- vom Autor und Künstler sign. Printed silkscreen and letterpress by the artist at Circle Press onto 300 gsm. rag-made Somersetpaper. The puppets were cut out by hand. The text, with on-stage instructions and off-stage commentaries, is a four-sided monologue consisting of a prologue, six scenes, and an epilogue. Bawdy, comic, and macabre passages from " The Tragical Comedy or Comical Tragedy of Punch and Judy " ( a script publ. by G. Routledge & Sons in 1860) are disguised as footnotes. 12 colorful puppets that fold out or move are attached to the ten French-folded sections. Tableau compositions and numerous vignettes utilizing photo-collage, die-cutting, screenprinting, and lithography illustrate the dialogue. King designed a large aperture for the title blocking, cleverly suggestive of a puppet stage, for the slipcase cover. Ronald King, geb. 1935 in Brasilien, lebt in England.
